Convention Time!

Just so's you know (those of you who still read this sad deserted blog,) I will be selling my wares at VanCAF this week-end, and featuring a new collection of my Potato Ninjas comic strips. I'll be setting up at Table L9 in Hall 2 and, as usual, hungry for attention.

Incidentally, my Potato Ninjas will also be publishing at Tapastic next week. I'll post a link when that happens. You are, of course, legally obligated to subscribe.

Introducing Heartless!

The advent of volunteer cemeteries was a short-lived fad (and later outlawed in most parts of Garden.) Public opinion fell short when it was discovered the ratio of familial duty to recreational bodysnatching had been grossly underestimated.

Introducing Heartless! (Basically, the latest version of Purple Soul/Baker) Please wish me luck,

So, I'm drawing a new comic now. It's called Armitage and I'm having it hosted over at Tapastic (which I heartily recommend a download, especially Gamercat.) Armitage will be updated Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I will be posting it here, too, but in weekly batches, as above, and only after its release on Tapastic (or when I remember to do so.) So download Tapastic to your phone or tablet, log-in with Facebook, and subscribe to Armitage. Rate it, heart it, share it with your friends. Seriously, a Like or a new subscriber will make me smile all day.

Sale of a Deathsman, part three

A luxurious coffin is a must for anyone in Garden who is truly concerned with their final rest. Today's grave-robbers are a discerning breed and easily put-off.

Sale of a Deathsman, part two

While zombies aren't known for their fabulous conversation skills, there are many zombie novelists whose writings have graced the best-selling list time and again. Their favourite subjects seem to be cook books, legal discourse, and spy thrillers.

Sale of a Deathsman, part one

There is a secret cabal of like-minded individuals, driven and determined to control the course of events in Purple Village: they call themselves "Morning People." Any effort to subvert their actions has failed as no-one has been able to figure out when they meet.

Follow Friday: Deadbeat Edition

Man, I stink at this whole "check out my new on-going comic series" bit. Will I ever get my writing-schtick together? That's the real entertainment on this blog.

Regardless, I came across a fantastic comic earlier this week when I was supposed to be working: Oyster War by Ben Towle. Originally, I had found it as part of the syndicated GoComics line-up, but tracked it to its home site where the story was much more advanced.

Oyster War is the tale of an iron steamship captained by Commander Davidson Bulloch, formerly of the Confederate Navy, struggling against oyster pirates (!) in the early days of the United States. Bulloch, a staunch no-nonsense soldier, leads a motley crew whose superstitions and folklore do little to warn him against what may very well be a supernatural villain.

The designs of the characters, ships, and port are hypnotic. Towle's pacing in his artwork has its highs and lows, but the pacing in his story is sublime; I ate up chapter after chapter of it and now I have to wait for more. Sadface.

I also read through Monster Isle by Joey Weiser. Adorable earth-shaking fun.
